On May 9th, a team of runners and their personal trainers from Sculpt Fitness of Farmington joined forces to take on Hartford’s Color Me Rad 5k race at Rentschler Field. Since Sculpt opened last December, its members have participated in many events, both for charity and for fun. Over 30 group Members, mostly personal training clients of Sculpt, donned branded shirts, to identify themselves as part of the team both on the course, and during the celebrations that followed. The team was led by trainer/Captain Dave Nichols, with the help of owners Jeff Wood and Rita McPhee, and fellow trainer, Cassie Signore.
While running a trail mixed with pavement, grass, and gravel, runners were sprayed with one of five different colors every time they completed a kilometer. Starting with a white tee, each runner ended up with what looked like tie-dyed shirts, skin, and hair. The race was untimed, so there was more focus on getting total color coverage than finishing the run quickly, although, some team members clocked their own results. “Is there a way to have too much fun? Well we did today at Color Me Rad!” said Sue, a client at Sculpt, via Twitter.
The Color Me Rad turned out to be a huge success not only for Team Sculpt, but also for all participants, and the primary beneficiary, the YMCA for Youth Development of Greater Hartford. “All of our Members are part of our family. We like to get outside the facility each month and do something as a family. This race was so enjoyable for us, we really bonded in a way business relationships never really have the opportunity to” said owner Jeff Wood. “It was an amazing turnout we had,” he said of the team. “I hope to double our team size and really benefit the cause.” The company constantly works with charity organizations to help those who are less fortunate.
Team Sculpt is increasing its ante on June 7th, when many members will be competing in the Tough Mudder competition, at Mount Snow, Vermont. For more information on this, and other charity events, visit LiveSculpted.com
