Positivity is one of the most important traits when it comes to meeting your health goals. It’s often asked, “How do I maintain and keep consistent not only with my workouts but with the day in & day out grind?” Grocery shopping, meal prepping, keeping my clients motivated, spending quality time with my family, and having a happy and balanced social life. The big answer is keeping negative people away or out of influence on me. Maintaining a positive attitude about my life in general, my health, my body, my job is very important to me, and it should be to to everyone as well!
So how do you know someone is having a negative impact on your life?
There are three things I think you should to watch out for to maintain positivity in your life & with your health:
- Projection – When a person is constantly criticizing your healthy habits or poking fun at your commitment to your goals and your health. An example might be telling you “going to the gym that much is unhealthy” or “look at you with that protein bar / shake / plain chicken” Chances are you are making that person uncomfortable with the reminder that they are failing to make healthy choices or aren’t reaching their goals so they want to project negativity on what you’re doing right.
- Rationalization- If said person is always in trouble and placing blame on their life situation on others. A drastic example is ” I can’t believe I got fired today. My boss obviously has a problem with me and that’s why I got fired.” Rationalization is justifying negative behavior or making excuses instead of having accountability and looking at one’s own cause for a situation.
- Procrastinating – Trying to get out of doing things, putting off positive changes – this is procrastination. When trying to set up good healthy daily habits procrastinating is not acceptable and will hold you back from your goals. Don’t let the people around you hold you back.
The group of people I keep around me is the key to me living the life I want. The right friends, family, and my Sculpt team have helped me succeed because they are positive people that help bring me up, not tear me down. Think of it as weeding out a beautiful garden!
