We’re all about ease with this green smoothie. You can throw your ingredients in your blender on Sunday night and make 2-3 days worth of breakfast smoothies. Just keep them in a tumbler or covered glass in the fridge and grab & go each morning.

This recipe will make ~3 12 ounce smoothies

green smoothieIngredients:

  • 2-3 cups Pre-chopped & triple washed Spinach or Kale
    • We like Taylor Farms Power Greens packs – they even make one half kale half spinach! Just open the bag and throw in.
  • 2 bananas
  • green smoothie About Time Protein

    2 scoops of Unflavored Protein

    • We used About Time brand for this one. It packs 25 grams of protein and only 1 carb per scoop – perfect for matching with fruit
  • ½ – 1 ½ cups Almond Milk depending on the consistency you like
  • Optional Adders: ground flax seed or chia seeds for some nutritional punch
  • Optional Flavor Adders: cinnamon, organic coconut flakes (not too many as coconut has a higher fat content)
  • Other Fruit: if you’d like you can throw in a few fresh or frozen strawberries, raspberries, mango chunks, blueberries – whatever you’d like – just watch how much you add. We recommend no more than a ¾ cup to keep your carbs & sugars in check

Directions:

Add the almond milk first, then protein powder, banana or other fruit, and the spinach/kale mix on top. We’ve found this to be the best order to get everything blended smoothly.

If you use a Vitamix, just put on smoothie mode. Otherwise, put your blender on high for about 45 seconds.

Play with ingredient quantities to get your smoothie to a consistency you like. The bananas, as long as they’re ripe, tend to mask the flavor of the greens and you’ll have a really great tasting morning start!
