As a personal trainer and lifting enthusiast I aim to pass on knowledge of everyday situations in which clients and fitness newcomers find themselves. I want to help you make easy fixes to mistakes you may be encountering, particularly women in this case.
I honestly cannot tell you how many women come to me telling me they want to “tone” or “build more muscle” without looking “manly” If I had a penny for every time I’ve heard that…. wow I’d be rich! Then they proceed to tell me the typical story, “I do cardio 3 times a week for 45 minutes and take a spin class. I eat like a bird but it’s all really healthy.” The ideal image most women put in their head is almost never matching to what they are doing in the gym and nutritionally. That cardio bunny routine I just described will rarely achieve the toned images these women crave and tell me they want.
The truth is they need to do something something most are afraid of and that’s lifting!!
5 reasons weightlifting for woman is beneficial
- It is very good for your bones helps and can even reverse bone conditions such as osteoporosis and osteopenia. The Doctor really isn’t joking about doing weight-bearing exercise!
- Lifting helps joint and tendon health keeping you active and strong. Bye bye joint aches & pains!
- It increases and balances hormone production. One such hormone is endorphins which has anti-stress and anti-depression properties. Remember Elle Woods in Legally Blonde? “Exercise releases endorphins, endorphins make you happy!”
- Reports and statistics show women who lift have better and 15% more sex then women who don’t due to a more preferred balance in hormone levels.
- It will actually give you the muscle development and healthy fit look you were looking for all along. With every lift session you will be developing thicker muscle bellies all around your body helping you achieve a toned look.
So please just LIFT!
